Form letters of rejection.
The worst!
We start getting them once we apply for college and they just keep coming. The more adventurous, creative you are, the more likely you will collect many of these "thanks, but no thanks" forms of communication.
I understand there are volumes of people trying to achieve volumes of goals within limited situations, but a few words about an individual or their idea to distinguish one failed rejection from another would be a nice gesture.
It's called making an effort.
I have always tried to recognize each and every person who inquires with me about an opportunity or idea because that's how I want to be treated on the other end.
I believe that to be good form.
I recently received a form letter of rejection regarding a creative project of mine - theOMies.com. It was extremely disappointing on several levels.
1.
The concept/designs are quite original in comparison to the sea of sameness that exists.
2.
The project has tremendous purpose, raising money (11% of all sales) for families dealing with stress and isolation of autism.
3.
It's just common courtesy to make an effort, especially in this day of massive social connectedness. Not to mention, it looks really bad for any brand to blow off people in such a 1980's manner.
Make an efffort.
Show you actually considered the person or idea.
Be authentic.
Care.
